Who can join?
ANYONE can join a Mommy & Me Pilates Class! The only difference between this class and a regular Mat Pilates Class is that it is Prenatal and Postnatal Safe. So we welcome Pregnant Mommies and new Mommies. Babies up to a year can accompany Mommy or if Mommy needs a break, you are of course welcome to attend solo!
What Is it?
New Mommy’s can be anxious to get back to their exercise routine and sometimes are guided towards exercise programs with uneducated and uncertified instructors that can do more harm to your body than good. We have seen too much of it, so we are doing something about it!
Our Mommy & Me Classes specialize and focus in these key components:
- Prenatal and Postnatal – Get in shape with mat and equipment-based Pilates taught by experienced and certified Pilates trainers. Our exercises have been specifically developed to address the physical needs of pregnant and postnatal women.
- Core & Pelvic Floor Work – Just because you can’t do crunches doesn’t mean you can’t have strong abdominals during pregnancy and beyond. A healthy pelvic floor is one that contracts and releases equally well. The exercises in our classes will help you find that deep, intrinsic connection!
- Diastasis Recti (Abdominal Separation) – Our MORE than qualified instructors have studied a variety of techniques and other modalities for healing Diastasis Recti. Our Mommy & Me Classes are safe to take if you have a diastasis and can be uniquely tailored and specifically designed to help you heal your split abdominals. The class will focus on teaching functional core work so that you feel strong and connected to your core regardless of whether you are lying down in mat class or running after your active toddler while holding a newborn!
- Postural & Breath Awareness
- Cesarean Healing
Not only is our Mommy & Me Pilates Program a great & smart way to prepare for labor & bounce back correctly, but it is a great way to fit exercise into your super active life. Want more great news? It’s a great way to include and bond with your baby, to socialize with other Mommy’s and to get you back in shape without having to find a babysitter! The Mommy & Me Pilates packages can be shared and transferred but are non-refundable. You can only use these classes for Mommy & Me or Fitness classes at Straight Up Pilates Studio.
